you are so loved you really are..

Here is a new Sketch/Artwork that i have done recently, it is an idea for a painting, on the thought that everyone is loved, special, important in this large world.
I talk to a lot of women that dont even realise how important their life is, that they dont even know how loved they are. We are all loved, important, safe, gifted, strong, talented and precious..we are all princesses of God, and that is something that is amazing, we are sooo loved that the love cannot even be measured.

This thought has just been passing through my mind lately, about someone close to me that is so lost, and these are the words i wish i could tell her..but i know that she won't hear me (or chooses to ignore me)..this world that we live in is so dark and deceitful and fake - why is it that people listen to it, and not the truth their friends or family? Who doesn't want to be loved? And treasured?

This is something that i struggle to understand, as a Christian it is so real and simple to me (the fact that we are loved and valued). But it think everyone else seems to miss that part of our faith, they see the fakeness that the world portrays of us, and then they dont get to know the real reason why even if our lives suck, we are happy, with the simple fact that we are loved, and sooo important to the most powerful person ever.God.

So this is my drawing/digital painting that kind of describes this, its just a rough draft, hopefully i will paint the real thing, and use magazine cut outs for the words.Watch this space, i will hopefully have this painting done by Christmas (fingers crossed)

you are loved you know

My Garden and other things

Well it has been an amazing long weekend here in Hamilton, lovely and hot and sunny :) I couldn't have asked for anything better. I got heaps done, and managed to get some rest in there too...Saturday Hubby worked and i went round to my in laws to rest, and then after work we went to the tattoo parlour and he got his wedding ring tattoo, it turned out real lovely, and it looks like a real ring at a long distance. The tattoo place was pretty cool too, such lovely people there. Here is a pic of Hubby's tat;

It is just of our wedding anniversary date, 17.01.2009, but in roman numerals :)

Well the rest of the long weekend was great too, we had church in the morning and ended up going to lunch with a friend, there is this real lovely cafe in town called Scotts Epicurean, it does the best coffee in Hamilton, i had this delicious Pork Quesadilla, it was to die for!! Will definitely go back for another one.

Then Hubby suggested we go and get new matching bedside lamps, as we have odd ones, and it looks off, and new ones would be sooo cool :) So we popped down to Briscoes (who had a MASSIVE sale on) And we managed to get new ones for $20 each, they are cream, with cut out bits and Crome stands, they look sooo much better than our old mismatched ones. After that we did our standard Sunday grocery shop, and went round to his parents again to have dinner and watch the final of the Rugby world cup, and guess what WE WON!!! WOOHOO! go AB's! :) Was such a momentous occasion, considering we haven't one it for 24 years! lol

Then this morning i got onto some more jobs, and did some washing and all the boring house stuff (yawn) then me and Harvey the cat went for a wee walk around the house ( he is LOVING being outside at the mo, i think its the heat and sun, but he moans and moans until you let him out - which could be troubling, since he is an inside cat) Anyhoo..then i went to the plant store and got some more plants, some Basil and some Sweet peas :) And put them in my garden.

On the topic of my garden, that was what i spent most of this weekend planting and are some pics of what i have done so far;

My herbs

Spring onion and spinach

My tulip :)

View from my front porch

Beans and Sweet Peas

Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, Parsley and Spring Onions

So yeah thats my Garden :) It is going to be sooo beautiful once everything is growing and bigger. I also have a heap of wild flowers that i plated down by the front of our house, so they will look lovely too :)

Well i better cook some dinner, its 7pm and im pretty hungry i must say, i think its being out in the sun that does ( I may or may no have got a wee bit sun burnt, hope not)

Ooh also tomorrow i am getting a haircut! Yuss, i also died my hair today (will put picks up soon)

More baking: Coconut Layer cake

Well it seems like i have done a bit of baking lately, i love it! This time we were invited to a dessert party at a friends, so i decided to make something that has been on my to-do list for about a year now.

It is a fabulous Coconut Layer Cake, from Martha Stewart..i tweaked it a bit, as the size of our eggs here in NZ must be a bit smaller than in the US. But it turned out ok, not as moist as i would have hoped, but it was a hit! The icing was so cool, i was a bit unsure at how it would work at first, as i thought that pouring boiling hot suger into egg whites would go terribly wrong, but it was me that was wrong! It was amazing, and so beautiful how it all came together into this glossy glorious marshmellow frosting :) I think next time i will add some strawberry essence to it, or more vanilla, as it was a bit too egg white flavoured, but still amazing!

Here are some pics;

I will definitely be making this one again, with some changes, but the coconut goodness was just the sweetness i needed :)
The recipe is on Martha Stewart's website :)

Well this weekend is a long one here in NZ, as on Monday it is Labour Day, so we working folk get the day off..yay!! I haven't quite figured out what i am going to do with my extra day yet, but I'm thinking i might get started on my vege garden, I want to plant my tomatoes, and some basil to go along side it (but I'm not sure if my mum has grown seedlings of will have to check) And then deadhead all my flowers and enjoy the sunshine! I so hope it stays sunny this weekend, it would just be fabulous to be able to spent most of it planting and being outside. Sometimes working in an office all day gets to me..i really do enjoy being outside, its so calming and refreshing! :)

Also ages ago i got a dress from a clothes swap, but it needed some help, with a new Zip..and re hemming, so i think my mother in law and i are going to hit that project aswell :) Yay so many fun things to do with my time. Hubby is working on the Saturday, and then we are going to the Tattoo parlour to get his ring tattoo done, as being an electrician you cant wear jewelery, so he is getting our wedding anniversary tattooed on his ring ringer, in roman numerals :) its going to be so rad!

On the subject of Tattoos, I'm thinking i would like one, but being a creative individual (LOL) i have too many ideas, plus whoever is doing it has to do it perfectly, so I'm a tad nervous (its not like you can erase it if it sucks!) So here are some of the ones I'm really liking at the mo..esp

So yeah, i really love the idea of the birds flying, on would like it on my right wrist..i think its quite sweet, for me it represents freedom, and the future. Also i do want the word agape somewhere (it means the greatest love, the strongest, like the love God has for us). Yeah so, im probably too chicken to ever get one..but these are my favs at the mo :)

Well I'm off to have some lunch :)

Chocolate Key Lime Pie - delish!

A few weeks ago i made a Chocolate Key Lime Pie. It was relativity easy to make, however it did not turn out exactly how i had hoped. The Condensed Milk/Cream mixture did you fluff up how i had wished..which was disappointing, as it didn't make it light and creamy once chilled (ah well!)

Me, i like Tangy sweet things with a bit of Zing! So this pie is not for everyone, i LOVED it, i could eat the whole thing (almost) but my Family thought it was a bit tart for them. I would suggest you ask your eaters how tart they like things before embarking on this pretty expensive pie (about $25NZD). Just dont add as much lime juice to the filling, and more chocolate ontop rather than more lime peel.

Here is how mine turned out; (pic taken on my phone, sorry that its not so good quality)

Here is the Recipe: (From Nigellas 'Kitchen' cook book)

The Ingredients:
(Serves 6-8
  • 300g digestive biscuits (or Malt Biscuits)
  • 1 x 15ml tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 50g dark chocolate chips
  • 1 x 397g can sweetened condensed milk, preferably chilled
  • 4 limes, to give approx. 2 x 15ml tablespoons finely grated zest and 175ml juice
  • 300ml double cream (or normal cream)
  • 1 square best-quality dark chocolate
  • 1 x 23cm x 5cm deep fluted tart tin with loose base (or just a glass pie dish)
To do:
  1. Put the biscuits, cocoa powder, butter and chocolate chips into a food processor and process to a dark, damp, sandy consistency. Tip into a fluted tart tin, and press onto the base and up the sides. Place in the fridge to chill while you make the filling.
  2. Pour the condensed milk into a bowl. Zest the limes into another bowl and reserve for decoration later. Add the juice of the limes to the condensed milk, whisking to mix.
  3. Pour in the double cream and whisk together – in a freestanding electric mixer or with a hand-held one – until thick, then spoon the mixture into the chilled biscuit crust and use the back of the spoon to finish off the top in a swirly fashion, leaving the soft filling encircled by dark crust.
  4. Chill the pie in the fridge for 4 hours (if the condensed milk was chilled) or (put in the freezer for 2 hours), until firm, or, ideally, covered overnight. When you are ready to serve, unmould the pie from the tart tin, but leave it on the base.
  5. Grate the chocolate to give a light dusting to the top of the pie and then sprinkle with the lime zest. This is important because without food colouring the pie will seem too pallid to conjure up the limes that flavour it. Serve immediately, as it will become soft if kept out of the fridge for too long.

Enjoy! :)

I got it!!

So a few posts ago i mentioned that i was going to sit my Full drivers License, which i have been avoiding doing for the last 3 years :S finally my husbands persistence got to me, and i booked it in to go sit it. I kind of had in my mind that it was going to be real hard, and the instructor would be super mean..but it was nothing of the sort. I had a lovely instructor, who was from Rotorua, and was new to Hamilton, so that made it easier for me, considering i knew the roads better than him :P

Well it all went perfect, i was calm and relaxed, we just talked the whole time about House Insulation and DVS systems LOL. But it was perfect to keep my mind of my nerves :)

So i ended up getting 100% in parts one and two, and 95% in the third part, because i didn't indicate when the lanes merged into one lane, owell..i still passed (needed to get 80% in each part to pass)

So here is my 'im happy i passed' photo...

Holding my temporary license :)

My 2nd Birthday

Well that time of year has come around again, and I still dont feel any older..This year its raining and cold, and a pretty miserable day. It's my birthday, but just feels like any other day, nothing feels special, i dont feel one year older, should I? I dont think i have felt a year older since i turned 16..i haven't grown much, my face has changed a bit, but otherwise, I'm still me. This year i am one of those in between years..last year was my big 21st, and the next big birthday is 25 :S

So this morning i had almost forgotten that it was my birthday, Hubby isn't one for celebrations, so i thought he had forgotten, so i walked up to him with a cheeky smile to make him think that he had to say something, and hubby quickly replied "I haven't forgotten my love, happy birthday" :)

So today has started well..i have a scatter of Facebook Happy birthdays and texts, so it's a nice quite birthday for me today :) I'm quite happy with that :)

Well i best get back to work, and prepare for my day.
