An A for Alyssa

Here is a name illustration i did for a Friends daughters 1st birthday - i drew her name with watercolours and pigment pens, trying to create different patterns for each letter, as well as keeping them matching. I think this can be a service i can offer, i also had the idea of writing their birth date, and christening or dedication date on the bottom - anyway, see what you think;

I just realized that on Mothers Day i didn't post a picture of my Mummy. So here is a picture of my Mum and Me, first picture would have been taken in about 1990 - i think i was almost 2? Then the other was taken just this last Christmas. Love you Mummy, cant wait for you to get back home! :)

Mum and me <3

On the art front, this afternoon i am going to pop by Gordon Harris and hopefully pick up some Watercolor paints, the ones i have (which were my dads) have dried up and are a bit hard to use, so i will invest in some cheap ones :P I am starting a drawing/word illustration for a little girls present/card - so hopefully it ends up nice, we will see. I have upload pics after her party on Saturday (though i dont think our computer will be back from being fixed then, so i might have to wait until Monday).

Off for morning tea now.

A Mothers Love

Today was Mothers Day, a day for Mothers, whether you are a mother yourself, or a daughter or son of a mother..we all have a mum. I love mothers day, its a day where we can celebrate them, so spend time with them, to make them feel loved and special (more than we do on any normal day).

My Mum is overseas - half way across the world - so my siblings and i made her her mothers day card early so she could take it with her, and open it on mothers day in Myanmar..She loved it! was sad that we couldn't spend the day with her, or have our traditional croissant and coffee breakfast, but still she felt special today :)

But i cannot forget that i also have a mother in law, a wonderful sweet one at that. So without further a do, i began to paint her a painting. Something of which she loves, and already has 3 of mine in her lounge already! But i knew it would be something that would bring her much joy, so i began. It began with getting frustrated at my paints..i am officially sick of acrylics..they dry too fast and the colours seem to lack substance..anyhoo..i dug out my oils and began again..and i finally got somewhere, i forgot how much i love oils and how easily they glide with the stroke of the brush. Well enough about that, i finished it just in-time to give to her today (still VERY wet) so i gave it to her after church at lunch..and she loved it! I was so glad, i love the joy when you give someone something that you have created, its so priceless :)

After our yummy lunch i took my mother in law to go see a movie (mothers got a free glass of bubbly) and we saw 'Dark Shadows' it was rather good, and we enjoyed it very much :)

Here are some pictures of the painting i gave my mother in law Maria - Titled 'A Mothers Love';

Its super late now, and of course its a work day tomorrow, so i better be good and go to bed....i am all ready to go..but i just keep finding things i can do! LOL this always happens to me! Night all.

25 Years with my brother and and epic Chocolate Cake

Well the last few days we have been celebrating my brothers 25th birthday. On Friday night we went out to our favorite Chinese restaurant and celebrated his birthday with my Dad, Anton, Si and me, as Mum is still overseas and my sister and her boyfriend were in Auckland. We had an awesome time at dinner, we even ordered something that we wouldn't normally..dad suggested ordering sizzling pork intestines..he was serious...so we did! i tried one piece and the texture was enough to put me off..but the taste was actually ok (surprisingly!) My favourite dish was the sweet and sour pork, its NOTHING like the takeaway generic stuff..it is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! We had a blast! They even gave my brother two complimentary dishes as it was his birthday!  Here are a few pics of the food and of us;

He also had his actual 25th party on tonight, so i made him a birthday cake. I used a new recipe which has coffee and more eggs in it - it turned out amazing! accompanied by the chocolate frosting it was FAB! Everyone loved it :P Here are some of the pics as i iced it;

Well im pretty exhausted for baking and doing chores..not that having a margarita helps with keeping me awake..LOL i cant even type properly, i keep spelling things wrong!! Was a great night..ahh now for sleeeeep :)
