More Puppy and Crafts

We have had puppy for just over a week now, and she is doing really well. She sleeps a lot, but is also up a lot. She loves playing with the Cat, and is super crazy! Training her is tricky, as she has a very short attention span, but she can do: Sit, Down and roll over. And we are working on Stay. She is super smart and funny..but sooo crazy. I hope as she grows up she will calm down a bit (or a lot!).

Here are some more recent pics of her, and of her and the Cat - Harvey;

The two pet kids sleeping (finally!)

Harvey telling Kara that my lap is his (he lost)

Kara's recent sleeping position (under the pillow)

It is sad having to leave her at home, but it's winter now and she is too little to be left outside, especially considering its not even 1 degree (Celsius) outside! So she is in her  make-shift room (the bathroom) and hopefully cuddled up with her teddy on her bed :)

She is always sososo excited to see us when we get home from work, im not sure if it's coz she gets let out of the room or she is happy to see us. Both? lol

Anyway, here are some pics of the craft project i am doing at the moment, which is a practice quilt, just a wee little 32" square one, that i think i will give to Kara for her indoor bed :).

Top of the quilt almost done

Added a border for extra size

Now i just have to go buy some batting and scrounge up some backing fabric and edging, then this little quilt is all done. I think i will do 'in-the-ditch' quilting on the top of this, since it is so tiny. Fingers crossed this works!

Well better get back to it!

Puppy is home!!

We picked up our puppy last night, and to say the least we are very tired, but she is so super cute and playful. Harvey our Cat is doing pretty good with it all, only the occasional hiss and moan - like just now he wanted to cuddle up on my lap and the puppy is asleep next to me, and he started to moan whenever the puppy that didn't go well..Harvey doesn't like being too close to puppy. But he will go up to her and sniff her while she is asleep - go figure!

Here are some new photos of Kara, and one from just now, of her sleeping next to me on the couch.

mmm puppy milk

Harvey and Kara meet for the first time - went claws anyway

so tuckered out from playing all afternoon!

Well thats all me for now, i better go find this cat and see what hes up to..probably sulking, or wanting to come sit on me again..forgetting what JUST happened..oh dear. Hopefully they will be friends soon, and Harvey starts playing with Kara (she really wants to play with Harvey) It has only been 1 and a half days though.

Off to suss this cat out.

Another Quilt Pattern + Need help please! :P

Well we have revised the pattern and this is what we have come up with. BIG squares to make it easier to sew and will take less time to quilt (i hope!) This my first Quilt, and i am just trying to get my head around how its going to work, with the front and the actual quilting process of it all.

Here is the Pattern we are doing now;

If anyone out there has ever done a quilt before, please share some tips! I am feeling a little over whelmed with this project (which is a bit unlike me!) I am pretty confident about doing the top layer and the applique (kinda - do i do it before i quilt it or after??) But what i am most confused about it the edging.

I really do not want to lose some off the edge of my quilt, as it will make my squares not square. SO i thought that if i made a panel around the edge to add extra for the bias edging to fold over on? Does that even work? Please throw tips my way :P - I won't be doing the edge for a while yet. And i haven't even got around to buying the fabrics. We are going to have a look this weekend, and see what there is. And find out how much it will cost. (eekk)

I also have a tiny tiny brother machine, so i am hoping it will all work Ok on it (you know, doing single size bed quilt..)

I have been watching some YouTube videos on edging and stuff, and I'm pretty sure i know how to do it, just not how to work out the size to cut it first and man i have to figure out how much fabric i will need..ugh so much mathematics! LOL will all work out OK (fingers crossed) I've got my Mother in Law to help if need be. I'm sure that between us we can do this!

Going to do a small tester quilt first (like doll sized!)

More Puppy Pics and Homemade Ravioli

This weekend we went and visited our Puppy again, and boy she has grown heaps again! She is now running around and playing, rolling over and being crazy! here are some pics from our visit on Sunday;

Kara and her brother (Kara is the smaller one on the left)

Playing with the new toy we brought for her to chew :)

That was super fun, and my Sister in law and hubbies parents came too - they really couldn't wait another 2 weeks to see her! Only 2 more weeks to wait, then we can take her home for good :)

Also last night, my sister in law and i made homemade Roasted Pumpkin, Garlic, capsicum, Spinach and Cottage Cheese Ravioli (we even made herb infused pasta!) It took forever to make and prepare, and since we didn't have a large enough pot we couldn't cook very many at a time. But it was all worth it! Was super tasty and filling. Here are some Pics;

Filled and ready to cook

First lot cooked and served - with mushroom and tomato sauce

Well i think we will need to make that one again! But next time we think we are going to put more pumpkin and less Spinach - and perhaps some Parmesan cheese instead of Cottage Cheese. Mmm can't wait for next time! Back to work i go.
